Pros:Price, hdmi output (composite and component, too), usb, plays mp4 files w/subs, price, price and did I mention price? Volume control on remote, plays video files from DVD, USB flash drive and USB hard drive! (hard drive needs separate power though, not enough power from just USB port) Cons: Time go to function input is in reverse (input seconds, then minutes, then hour) Play button is in a inconvenient location in relation to ff/rw button on remote as someone mentioned unit displays "off" continuously when unit is soft-pwr off, however power consumption is negligible (kill-a-watt meter says 0 W). Is it better than a flashing 12:00 vcr light? LOL No audio when ff (hdmi, dvd, avi) Takes a few seconds to startup/load Power button on unit is located in a non-traditional location Does not bookmark stop location after power off (if you just stop without power off you can resume, at least on a dvd) Other: Couldn't get... I hate spending a lot of money for a DVD player because they all have reliability issues regardless of price. Either the lid retract mechanism breaks, or they start having tracking problems. I got this a Wallymart for $20 online. So far it has been able to read DVD+R, DVD-R, CDR, and DVD+RW media mastered from a variety of programs and hardware. It can playback photo CDR albums, CDR with MP3's, mpg4's, vobs, etc. The playback menu works with home created DVD's from DVD-styler.My only difficulty was getting audio to work thru HDMI to my Viz TV. To get this to work I needed to go to the audio setup menu and set Downsampling=YES ( why I do not know ). Great DVD player with a price comparable to the price of a HDMI cable at Wallys.

i saw this player on sale at walmart, but didn't buy it at first and missed out. then after an extensive search, i bought it at a remote walmart while out of town. it was on clearance, but the regular price afaik was similar (just a few $ less than on amazon).the reason i found this player is that i wanted a player that would play media thru usb. the others that play thru usb are much more. i had heard of the viore name before (in my line of work) so i figured it couldn't be that bad. down to the important part - it plays avi and mpg formats both thru the dvd player part as well as usb. you just have to re-encode it sometimes to get avi to play properly (at least usb). i was also able to get it to read my external hard drive, so i don't have to migrate stuff to a usb thumb drive individually to view it. i can play hours of movies without effort! the bad part is that sometimes scrolling thru the directories can be awkward. also, other...
