Synopsis
The OREI BDP-M1 3D Blu-ray DVD player is guaranteed to play DVDs from all regions: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and Blu-rays from zone A out of the box. It will work on ANY TV, without the need of external video converters or special television. The BDP-M1 features a perfect PAL to NTSC conversion for best picture.

I was in the market to buy a region free dvd player mainly because to play my BBC collection and other PAL DVDs that I occasionally get from Europe. I looked around few dvd players on Amazon and came across this one with blu-ray as well. It seemed like a good value and so I went with it. I also like the added bonus of compatibility with MORE digital files (i.e. mkv, mp4, divx/avi, etc) via USB. This machine is truly a step above from the brand name region free dvd player that cost almost same as this and do not offer blu-ray playback.
Setup was a breeze with HDMI cable to my HD TV. I played my PAL DVDs and they looked brilliantly compared to my older dvd player without the 1080p upscaling feature. The Bluray playback quality is great. Saturated colors and sharp.
I also played avi files from a USB flash drive and the HD files were also upconverter to 1080p and looked much better than watching them on the PC. I connected my 1.5TB hardrive but it didn't detect it...

Got it as a Christmas gift and I set it up right away and played my Region 2 Bond collection from Europe. Worked and played them all beautifully on my Panasonic 52" Plasma

I bought this player to view region 2 discs and to serve as a back-up Blu-ray player. It performs those functions pretty well but if you plan to use it for accessing internet content including firmware updates beware. It may work for Blu-ray live features but I haven't tried that. NetFlix, Utube or other online services? Forget it. If you only need a player this seems to be a good unit but definitely don't buy if you plan to use those services. Also the user guide is pretty much useless and online help is virtually nonexistant.
